In 2020, I (Dajo Leunge, 1993) graduated from the Netherlands Film Academy, majoring in screenplay. For my graduation film Donnie Mountain I won the AVROTROS screenplay award and the Kees Hoelierhoek award. The Filmfonds Short Berenklauw  - based on my childhood - was selected for the Gouden Kalveren Competition and the NFF Debut Competition. I'm currently developing this short into a children's tv-series and my Videoland Academy film - Wij Zijn Beesten - can now be streamed on Videoland.

I've always had a great love for cinema and its endless possibilities for storytelling. Therefore, I approach each project as a challenge to try something new. I do not limit myself to one genre, but like to play with different genre elements to give every story a fresh, surprising angle. My focus is currently on stories for kids, young adults and people in their twenties, often centered around coming-of-age themes. I often write about outsiders - preferably with a dark, immoral edge - who struggle with their place in the world.

In addition to my own projects, I work within the writers' collective Writers Inc. to develop various series for TV and online, including an adaptation of the famous Griezelbus-books by writer Paul van Loon. Our latest series Outer Space (VPRO) can now be watched through NPO Zapp on tv and online. Season 2 will air in March 2024.
